Muzzle Guards

We are often asked about guards to help prevent scavenging and to offer more protection from the dogs teeth and we now offer a waterproof webbing guard that we can fit to the muzzle before sending it out to you.
We do not recommend  you trying to fit the guard yourself unless you are used to working with rivets and waterproof webbing.
 
Box muzzles have a partial guard where the underside of the muzzle is solid rather than a basket, and this is usually enough for most dogs.
 
However where some extra protection is required on a box muzzle, or some protection adding to a basket style we now offer a waterproof webbing guard.
On the basket muzzles this offers protection directly in front of the dogs mouth, which doesn't reduce the air flow through the muzzle ensuring the dogs can still pant effectively which is essential as this is how they regulate their body temperature and stop them overheating.
 
The box muzzle is usually enough to stop scavenging, however some dogs learn to use the muzzle as a scoop, and we can therefore extend the barrier around the front with a webbing guard so it sits a little higher on the muzzle- shown with the yellow arrow in the photo above.
For really determined dogs we can add a second band over the top of the basket (as shown on the photo with the red arrow) but this is extreme and not the norm.

Although the guards are a customisation we will accept the muzzles back for a refund, however please be aware that as they need cutting off and cannot be reused we will need to deduct the cost of the guard from the refund.
